ABOUT 

Juan Andres Otalora is a Grammy award-winning film composer, arranger and guitarist from Colombia.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Guitar from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá. During his years there he began to tour and record with some of the biggest names in Colombian music, eventually settling as lead guitarist and musical director for artist Fonseca.

Juan relocated to Los Angeles in 2010 to attend USC’s Scoring for Motion Pictures and TV Program. After graduating he assisted composer Joel Mcneely on projects such as American Dad and the Dinsey’s Tinkerbell franchise. Since then he’s taken on projects as both composer and arranger in popular music and film.

In 2014 Juan arranged and produced Sinfonico with Fonseca and the Colombian Symphony Orchestra (OSNC). The album won a Latin Grammy for ”Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album” and was nominated for “Album of the Year”. His arrangements have been performed by some of the most important orchestras in Latin America.

Juan attended the acclaimed ASCAP 2015 Film Composer Workshop and has since scored several shorts and features including “Lila’s Book”, which was nominated for a Macondo Award for best Score in 2018.

Juan worked alongside composer Jake Monaco on the DreamWorks Animation/Netflix series Dinotrux  and is currently working with Leo Birenberg on Amazon’s Kung Fu Panda – Paws of Destiny.
